The Cryosphere Today website updates a long running sea ice area dataset every day, it's called the tape of the tale and looks back to 1979.

This dataset is the basis for the clickable calendar below and let you choose a date to explore. The list of sources will grow soon. If you miss a valubale source let me know. All data can be fetched as long the URL understands a formatted date.
